Chili Cornbread Waffles

I love chili, I mean how could you go wrong on a cold, windy, gloomy night by eating a delicious bowl of chili? But the problem with chili is that if you don't watch out you can end up with a pretty caloric supper. Well, do we have the solution for you! ( imagine a cheesy salesmen saying that) ha ha. So here is the delicious recipe:

For the Chili

  • 2 cans of chili beans (not drained)
  • 1 can of black beans (drained)
  • 1 or 2 cans of diced tomatoes (can be rotel if you like a little spice)
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1 lb. of ground turkey
  • season with salt and pepper to taste
Open all the cans and throw them all into a crockpot with the frozen ground turkey, this can be raw or cooked, we have tried it both ways and it turns out great either way! Turn on your crockpot for a few hours and you are set! It is literally that easy... yes there is no catch! haha

For the Waffle Batter

  • 1 cup of Kodiak Cakes (packed with PROTEIN!!)
  • About a 1/4 cup of jiffy mix cornbread
  • A dash of garlic powder
  • A dash of onion powder
Mix it all together and throw it on the waffle iron, and it will make one delicious cornbread waffle!

How to top it:
You can literally not go wrong with the way you top it, because this waffle will be messy! haha I put the waffle on bottom sprinkled a little cheese on top and then spooned on some chili and MAN! it hit the spot. I know we say this almost every time but this waffle may have taken the lead for the most delicious and filling waffle recipe yet! Try it tonight!

Kassia
